Mini-progress Report: The Soil and Water Team is up and running. We are sharing research on how to improve drinking water at the source by curtailing agricultural run-off. The approach is educational and "demonstrational" (that will be an extra 5 cents, please.)
In order to reduce and eventually stop the ag chemical run-off (e.g., excess nitrogen, phosphorus, other chemical fertilizers, and toxic herbicides such as glyphosate) we are committed to helping producers and ranchers develop alternate solutions to their problems (i.e. weeds.)
This approach, which Full Circle Uruguay member Darielle reminds us, is known as "regenerative agriculture." The key is build soil health. This approach gradually makes the soil inhospitable to certain weeds.
We are also investigating ways to degrade existing glyphosate in soil. This is a tough nut to crack and it will take time. But the Soil and Water group is taking it on.
There is more to report, but we have a good start. We are walking the talk. For example, we have met with the Liga de Puntal del Este leadership. They are intrigued by what we are doing, and by the fact that we are DOING, We are invited to join, and we are working out details about how to do that so the costs and benefits are shared. Members have access to their full-service 120-person meeting room three times a year. Just what we need for our group as we grow to the next level!
Gary Richards There's a typo: it's the Liga de Punta del Este. I don't know why all of those tags appeared after the posting. Can anyone tell me how to avoid that in the future? Thanks.

Amanda I live across the lake from Vermont so we have similar issues, but add cow manure. I have heard of using the manure to create methane to run the farm, but am very interested in any developments on this front. Thanks!

one under god [on strike/on point] the big thing with cow manure is to keep it out of water..but I hear pig manure is worse..and human worse again ..and chicken dodo in water is a nono..these nutrients actually have the ability to transporm an inactive flora micro flora into microbeast..that was showing up in fishermen fishing in the waters ..really making them sick..anyhow cheers cant find details https://vdh.virginia.gov/epide…
